Andalucía weekend weather forecast August 13-16: Storms continue in the mountains as heat slowly eases
Warm and mostly clear with afternoon mountain storms persisting, though temperatures begin to edge down from their recent highs
This week saw temperatures across the interior of Andalucía push deep into the forties, with storm warnings covering much of the eastern mountains. This weekend follows a familiar pattern, though there are tentative signs of relief, with the heat gradually edging back and one or two provinces dropping off the warning list by Friday.Thursday August 13
Andalucía maximum temperatures, Thursday August 13Clear skies for most, though cloud builds during the day in the eastern interior, bringing showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon that could be locally heavy with hail and very strong gusts.
Heat warnings cover most of the region, with only Málaga and Almería spared, though both Almería and Jaén carry storm warnings. Minimums rise along the Atlantic coast around Huelva and Seville, while maximums hold steady. Winds are light to moderate and easterly along the Mediterranean, turning southerly in the afternoon with moderate to occasionally strong gusts around the Strait.
Friday August 14
Andalucía temperatures, Friday August 14A similar picture: clear skies, misty stretches along the Mediterranean coast and storms possible in the eastern interior during the afternoon, again potentially heavy with hail and strong gusts. Temperatures broadly unchanged or slightly lower in places. Cádiz drops off the heat warning list, reaching a more comfortable 30°C, which will feel like a reprieve after recent weeks. Winds stay light and variable, turning moderate through the afternoon, with light to moderate easterlies around Tarifa and the Strait.
Saturday August 15
Andalucía temperatures, Saturday August 15Partly cloudy skies, with low cloud and mist along the coast and the Strait again through the morning. Mountain storms remain possible in the eastern interior during the afternoon. Temperatures ease or hold steady, with Córdoba dropping around three degrees but still an uncomfortable 39°C. Winds turn southwesterly in the afternoon. Granada stays hot inland, though conditions along the coast remain more bearable.
Sunday August 16
Andalucía temperatures, Sunday August 16Partly cloudy with the coastal mist returning through the morning and cloud developing in the mountains again, bringing the chance of afternoon storms in the eastern interior. Temperatures hold or edge slightly lower. Winds turn westerly along the Atlantic coast in the afternoon, with moderate easterlies along the eastern Mediterranean coast keeping Almería and the far east breezy. A warm but gradually moderating end to the weekend.
The storm threat in the mountains isn't going away just yet, but the slow dip in temperatures is a welcome development, and by Sunday the worst of the heat feels a fraction more manageable than it did at the start of the week.
Min and max temperatures in Andalucía this weekend
- Thursday August 13: Min 20ºC; Max 42ºC
- Friday August 14: Min 22ºC; Max 42ºC
- Saturday August 15: Min 21ºC; Max 39ºC
- Sunday August 16: Min 21ºC; Max 39ºC
