Corvera airport traffic jumps 8.4% with international travel leading the way
Murcia International Airport has handled more than 709,000 passengers between January and August
Corvera airport has handled more than 700,000 passengers in the first eight months of the year, with international travel continuing to drive growth at Murcia International Airport.
The Region of Murcia International Airport recorded 709,319 passengers between January and August, an increase of 8.4% compared with the same period in 2025, according to the latest figures from Aena.
The vast majority of travellers used commercial flights, with 706,225 passengers flying in or out of Corvera during the period.
International connections accounted for 624,220 passengers, up 7.3% year on year, while domestic passenger numbers saw an even bigger increase of 13.9%, reaching 82,005.
The airport also recorded a significant increase in flight activity, handling 5,868 aircraft movements between January and August. This includes landings and takeoffs and represents a 15.3% increase on the same period last year.
Of these movements, 5,007 were commercial operations, including 4,137 international flights and 870 domestic connections.
August was another strong month for the airport, with 134,007 passengers passing through Corvera, up 5.9% compared with August 2025.
International travel once again accounted for the vast majority of passengers, with 118,516 international travellers, an increase of 6.3% year on year. Domestic passenger numbers were broadly unchanged, with 15,015 travellers recorded, up 0.2%.
Flight activity also continued to rise during the peak summer month. Corvera handled 974 aircraft movements in August, representing a 12.3% increase compared with the same month last year.
