Five Orihuela Costa beaches awarded prestigious Qualitur flags

La Glea, Mil Palmeras, Cala Estaca, Punta Prima and Cala Capitán have all received the regional tourism award

Five beaches along the Orihuela Costa coastline have once again been recognised for their quality, safety and environmental standards after receiving prestigious Qualitur flags from the Valencian Regional Government.

This year's awards have gone to La Glea, Mil Palmeras, Cala Estaca, Punta Prima and Cala Capitán, recognising the work carried out to maintain high standards in areas including beach management, accessibility, safety, customer service and environmental protection.

The flags were presented on Monday June 15 at a ceremony in Burriana attended by regional and local representatives from across the Valencian Community.

Orihuela's Councillor for the Coast, Manuel Mestre, collected the awards on behalf of the municipality.

"These five Qualitur flags are excellent news for Orihuela Costa and a recognition of the work carried out throughout the year to keep our beaches in the best possible condition," he said.

The awards form part of an annual programme that recognises beaches meeting strict quality criteria. This year, 206 beaches across 40 municipalities in the Valencian Community received recognition.

"It is not just a tourist distinction, but a guarantee of quality for residents and visitors, the result of the coordinated effort of the various municipal services involved in the cleaning, maintenance, safety and care of our beaches," Mr Mestre stressed.

During the event, regional officials highlighted that maintaining Qualitur certification requires ongoing work throughout the year rather than a one-off effort ahead of the summer season.

Mr Mestre echoed that message, explaining that the council would continue working with the different municipal departments responsible for maintaining the coastline.

"The Orihuela Costa coastline is one of our main attractions and a top-tier tourist destination. These recognitions confirm that we are working in the right direction to offer increasingly accessible, safe, sustainable and attractive beaches," he said.

The councillor also pointed to the growing importance of balancing tourism with the needs of local residents and the protection of the natural environment.

"After a record year for tourism in the Valencian Community, the challenge is to continue focusing on quality and sustainability as differentiating elements of our destination, while guaranteeing coexistence with residents and the protection of our natural environment," he added.
