Spain holiday calendar 2026: All national and regional public holidays confirmed
Spain will have 9 nationwide bank holidays and plenty of long weekends next year

As the end of the year approaches, one of the most anticipated announcements for people across Spain has arrived. The Official State Gazette (BOE) has now published the final work calendar for 2026, confirming the dates of national and regional public holidays.
Just like in 2025, Spain will have nine holidays celebrated across the entire country. These include New Year’s Day on January 1, Epiphany (El Día de los Reyes Magos) on January 6, Good Friday on April 3, May Day/Labour Day on May 1, the Feast of the Assumption on August 15, Spain Day on October 12, All Saints’ Day on November 1, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on December 8 and Christmas Day on December 25.
In addition to these nationwide dates, each autonomous community can decide on several of its own holidays. For example, Holy Thursday on April 2 will be a public holiday in nearly every region except Catalonia and the Valencian Community.
Regions can also move certain holidays, such as adding a day off after a Sunday holiday or observing their own traditional festivals like San José on March 19 or Saint James’ Day on July 25.
Several autonomous communities have already announced their adjustments. November 2, the day after All Saints’ Day, will be a bank holiday in Andalucia, Aragon, Asturias, the Canary Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Extremadura, Madrid and Navarra.
December 7, the day after Spanish Constitution Day, will also be a holiday in Andalucia, Aragon, Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Extremadura, Madrid, the Region of Murcia, La Rioja and Melilla.
Meanwhile, the Balearic Islands will move their regional holiday to Monday, March 2.
In total, Spain will have 14 public holidays in 2026. Twelve of these will be national and regional, while two more will be local dates set by individual councils.
The calendar brings at least four long weekends, as holidays fall on Fridays, including April 3 (Good Friday), May 1, October 12 and December 25.
Regions observing Holy Thursday as a public holiday will enjoy a four-day Easter weekend. In some areas, the break will be even longer. The Balearic Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Navarra, the Basque Country, La Rioja and the Valencian Community will add Easter Monday on April 6, creating a five-day Easter holiday.
Those hoping to make the most of the start of the year can also extend their New Year celebrations, as Epiphany on January 6 falls on a Tuesday, giving many workers the chance to take a long weekend to ease into 2026.
