Until September 8 Annual fiestas in the Mazarron village of La Majada
The fiestas of La Majada are held in honour of the Purísima Concepción
La Majada is a small hamlet 9 kilometres west of Mazarrón, with only around 200 inhabitants according to the "padrón" or local register in 2021, and over 50 of these residents are non-Spaniards.
However, it is a village full of history and traditions, and one of those which is maintained to the present day is the celebration of the annual fiestas in honour of the Inmaculada Concepción, which have one notable peculiarity. The official date of this religious holiday is 8th December, but the fiestas are normally held in the first week of September in order to coincide with the time of year when farm workers are resting.
This year the celebrations run from August 30 to September 8, encompassing two weekends, and are dotted with DJ music and dancing as well as the traditional religious procession on September 8 itself.
The program for the 2025 fiestas in La Majada includes the following:
Friday August 29
22.00: The opening speech is given by José María Zabala Vera, vecino de La Majada and the 2025 Miss Majada is announced.
23.00: Live music from CIUDAD CANALLA.
1.00: More music from DJ Don Fluor.
Saturday August 30
17.00: Family football match.
22.30: Live music from FRAGUEL POP, with a piñata to win gifts.
1.00: More music from Dj Ger.
Sunday August 31
10.00: Motorbikers’ breakfast, “La Majada 2025”.
14.00: Paella for all, price just 1 euro per portion including entry into a raffle.
17.00: Children’s afternoon with a water party, inflatables and a foam party.
18.00: Corrida de Cintas, dexterity on bicycles competition.
22.00: Chinchón tournament and musical bingo.
Monday September 1
22.00: More card and table games with musical bingo.
Tuesday September 2
22.00: More card and table games including ludo with musical bingo.
Wednesday September 3
22.00: The finals of the table games and cards competitions.
Thursday September 4
17.00: Come along and help prepare the traditional “pestiños” sweet pastry.
22.30: A night of music and migas with musical entertainment from “Los de la Juana” and Dj
Ruby.
Friday September 5
23.00: Live music from THE TRACKS and the election of the Visitors’ King and Queen of the fiestas.
1.00: More music from DJ Ruby.
Saturday September 6
18.00: Children’s petanca tournaments.
22.30: The Grand Dance and costume competitions for both adults and children with music from “La Trama”.
1.00: More music from DJ Carrillo.
Sunday September 7
14.00: Convivial lunch at Bar Restaurante El Puente, prior booking is required at the restaurant.
18.00: Crazy cars competition.
22.00: An evening of karaoke hosted by Rubén Rodríguez and Company.
Monday September 8
14.00: An aperitif of traditional dishes, with ham slicing by “Jose del Moreno” and “Pepe de la Inesperada”.
19.00: Open-air Mass in honour of the Purísima Concepción, followed by the procession of the figure of the Patron. Traditional “huertano” costumes are welcome!
22.00: Live music to end the fiestas, followed by traditional sweet pastry and hot chocolate.
