Dog left with broken leg after being kicked outside home in Mula
Guardia Civil are investigating a man for animal abuse after a dog was seriously injured without warning
A 20-year-old man is under investigation in Mula after allegedly kicking a dog so hard he broke the animal’s leg.The incident happened when the dog, a medium-sized mixed breed, was standing quietly outside its home. According to the owner, a local woman, the dog was attacked without any warning or obvious reason. She immediately called the local police for help.
The dog, which is 15 years old, was taken to a vet where it was found to have a broken femur and other complications. It is now recovering with medical treatment.
Following the report, the Guardia Civil in the Region of Murcia, together with Mula’s local police, launched an investigation to find out what had happened. They have now identified a young man as the person allegedly responsible and are formally investigating him for animal abuse.
Under Spanish law, causing harm to a domestic or tame animal that needs veterinary treatment can carry serious consequences. The Penal Code states that someone found guilty of this offence could face between three and 18 months in prison, or a fine of six to 12 months. In addition, they could be banned from owning animals or working with them for up to three years.
