Roadworks cause temporary closures near Hacienda del Álamo this weekend

The improvement work is taking place on roads near Fuente Álamo this weekend

A section of the RM-E6 road linking Cuevas de Reyllo (Fuente Álamo) and Corvera (Murcia) will be closed to traffic during working hours on November 28, November 29 and December 2 due to improvement works.

The affected stretch, between kilometre points 2 and 6, passes near the Hacienda del Álamo Golf Resort. While residents will be allowed to pass, other traffic will be diverted via the RM-E5 and RM-E8 roads through La Murta.

Murcia’s Regional Minister for Development, Jorge García Montoro, and the Director General for Roads, Francisco Carrillo, visited Fuente Álamo to oversee the progress of these works and a broader 1.2-million-euro upgrade of the road. The project spans eight kilometres and is focused on enhancing safety and connectivity between Murcia’s municipal area, El Escobar and Los Paganes.

The improvements include eliminating potholes, concreting ditches for better drainage and putting in new road signs. A section of the road will also be widened to six metres to enhance safety.

Mayor of Fuente Álamo, Juana María Martínez, praised the initiative, emphasising its significance for residents and expressing the need for further investment in local road infrastructure.

These upgrades are part of a wider plan to improve the municipality’s roads, including future works on routes serving Balsapintada, Las Palas and La Pinilla.
